Abstract

The simulation of side impact test procedures provides a new challenge to engineers to extend crashworthiness computations to this load case. The strong interaction between structure and dummy requires a completely coupled analysis of vehicle and dummy. Since the measured injury levels are the criteria on which the performance of the car is judged substantial work has to be performed to obtain a well validated finite element (FE) dummy model. This paper presents recent advances in modelling and validation of an EuroSID FE dummy. (A)
