Abstract

Problems of driving in reduced visibility conditions were examined, the problems relative to traffic safety were determined, and accident countermeasures were studied. Available data regarding accident frequency under reduced visibility due to fog, rain, snow, dust, and smoke and meteorological information concerning the frequency of those conditions are reviewed. Various available countermeasures which can be directed toward lessening the risk of driving in adverse weather are dealt with.
