Abstract

Photochemical air pollution is a large- scale phenomenon characterised by an interaction between sunlight and airpolluted with hydrocarbons and introgen oxides. Eye- irritation, as reported in the U.S., has been attributed to substances in photochemical smog. As yet, eye irritation has not been reported in the Netherlands. The Committee is of the opinion that such an effect should be prevented by all possible policies.
