Abstract

The paper by Pechansky & Chandran [Pechansky F., Chandran A. Why don’t Northern American solutions to drinking and driving work in Southern America? http://dx.doi.org/10.1111/j.1360-0443.2011.03731.x] discusses what is lacking in South America drinking and driving policies in order for them to be as effective as those already employed in North America and other countries, such as Australia, New Zealand and Scandinavia. In Brazil, the largest country in South America, and an emerging economy, it is unquestionable that the drinking and driving field has experienced great visibility in recent years in the media among politicians and the general public.
