Abstract

The equations of motion for a motor vehicle performing lateral manoeuvres are set up to include both aerodynamic and tyre effects. To investigate effects further calculations have been made for some vehicles which are laterally aerodynamically unstable can have critical speeds which are markedly different from those predicted simply by considering tyre forces only.
