Abstract

Helmets remain the primary protective device available to motorcyclists. Increasing attention is now being given to the potential and design of other protective devices: In partic- cular, leg shields or guards and protective clothing. This paper is a review and evaluation of the development and current status of such protective features.Special attention is given to the difficulties of interpolating existing motorcycle accident data for the development and evaluation of such features.
