Abstract

Analyses of the aggregate – trip – distribution- models point out that it is necessary: (1) to take the study area as large as possible (all relevant destinations have to play their role; (2) to shape the zones as small as possible (the spatial structure has to be reproduced in the model as explicitly as possible). These demands lead to the use of a large number of zones, resulting in costly computations, which are nonetheless necessary for a first calculation.
