Abstract

A mathematical model to describe tractor overturning and impact is based on the force-defelction relationships of the vehicle and the ground structures at their points of contact. The model is used in a computer simulation, which showed good agreement with dull schale overturning experiment. The simulations helped to explain aspect of behaviour including tyre bounce ans slip during overturning, multiple roll dynamics and the ways in which energy is dissipated during impact.
