Abstract

Correct and consistent speed limit signing helps road users to recognise the speed limit in force and enables legitimate speed enforcement to take place. Similarly, correct and consistent advance warning of the use of camera technology to enforce speed limits also encourages and helps road users to stay within the posted speed limit. The Department has produced the attached aide memoir document summarising the requirements for signing speed limits and camera enforcement. The information contained in the document will already be familiar to you from The Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions (TSRGD) 2002 and the Handbook of Rules and Guidance for the National Safety Camera Programme for England and Wales for 2006/07. This document does not replace or update TSRGD, and all relevant regulations, directions and schedules must be complied with at all times. (Author/publisher)
