Abstract

This issue of Current Topics includes over 70 abstracts of reports conference papers, books and journal articles which focus on the design and testing of air bags in frontal, side and bumper collisions, deployment mechanisms, sensor systems and inflator systems. Other subjects include the effectiveness of air bag use in fatality reduction, and air bag safety; some abstracts cover injuries caused by air bags. These items have been selected from the material added to the Transport Research Laboratory's Library Database between 1996 and 1998. Much of the relevant English language published literature from the UK, USA, Australia and Europe is included; some of the non-UK literature is included courtesy of the OECD International Road Research Documentation (IRRD) database. The previous edition, Current Topics in Transport CT 73.1 (see C 10575 S), covered abstracts of articles added to the database from 1993-1996.
