Abstract
This article describes the airbag as a `Jack-in-the-box'; an inflatable pillow, hidden in the steering wheel and dashboard of a car that comes out when the car is involved in a collision. The working of the airbag is described. It also mentions two new models: the airbag for rear seat passengers and the side airbag. The article concludes with describing when and when not an airbag should come into operation.
