Abstract

A broad outline of how blocks of houses and flats on the outskirts of housing estates and the open spaces around them can be so arranged as to limit the amount of noise nuisance to which they are exposed, is presented. Information is given on: (1) the way in which traffic noise penetrates a housing estate; (2) the way in which it is possible to reduce noise levels; and (3) assessment of the final result.
