Abstract

Four types of acoustic signals in use at pedestrian crossings have been considered in detail. The list of requirements relevant for this application is best met by the signal of the "ticker type". Some suggestions are made in relation to potential problems, which might occur, in specific cases. The application of a special request push-button marked "sound" may be helpful in such cases.
