Abstract

In 2004 the City of Calgary entered into a partnership with the Province of Alberta, the City of Edmonton, the Alberta Motor Association, and Transport Canada to evaluate the Condition Acquisition Reporting System (CARS), a web-based traveller information tool. It is the first time CARS has been tested in Canada. The 8-month long pilot project will run from January to September 2005 and achieves both the objective of testing Web-based Advanced Traveller Information System (ATIS) tool for the City of Calgary and the larger goal of testing a system that may be used province wide. Calgary intends to use the results to help prioritize the needs for the ATIS and determine next steps. Feedback from the general public will be obtained via an online survey on the traveller information website. For the covering abstract of this conference see ITRD number E211426.
