Abstract

This book provides a comprehensive study of the involvement of alcohol in all forms of accidents, with special emphasis on road accidents and drinking and driving. Starting from the earliest use and abuse of alcohol in society, the book demonstrates how control of alcohol abuse became necessary, and how the problem is approached internationally. The physiology of how the body copes with alcohol is described, providing a background to measurement techniques - including those requiring samples of body fluids and evidential breath tests. All technical aspects are accurately described.
