Alcohol and Browning - The Geelong experience 1957-1980

Abstract

This study is based primarily upon post-mortem findingsand the bistory of events surrounding 238 Brownings (95of all the drownings) in the Geelong coronial district(population 250.000 in a 24 year period. A blond alcoholconcentration (BAC) greater than 0.08 was present at au-topsy in 35l of all drowned males 15 years of age or older,but no female had a BAC greater than 0.08. There veere 47persons who drowned following accidents to watercrafttransport vehicles.
