Abstract

An account is given of the increasing occurence of alcohol-related road accidents in the Czech Republic. Statistics are provided showing the number of people injured, seriously injured and killed between 1986 - 1994. A number of contributory factors are discussed including the prevalence of alcohol consumption, the low level of penalties and a lack of enforcement. Recommendations are made for improving the situation.
