Abstract

To determine the presence of absence of alcohol in persons admitted to a emergency service for treatment of home accident injuries 5622 patients were breathalyzed and blood analyses were taken from 1222 patients. The findings are consistent and implicate alcohol as a factor in home accident injuries as well as injuries from transportation, occupation and other types of accidents and injuries resulting from fights or assaults.
