Abstract

The Cooperative Commission on the Study of Alcoholism anticipates that the report will be the basis for: (1) planned and coordinated action on recommendations dealing with a variety of alcohol problems, (2) widespread public discussions of many questions regarding alcohol use, (3) expanded training programs to provide needed personnel, and (4) vastly increased research to provide critically needed additional knowledge, This report and the publications to follow are initial efforts to achieve a better understanding of the totality of alcohol problems.
