Abstract

From 1970-1988, nine surveys were carried out in The Netherlands, to make an inventory of driving under influence by car-drivers. In this study, the results of 1988 are presented. Comparisons with 1987 show that there is a significant decrease in the number of drivers with a BAC over 0.5 promille. The decrease is mainly attributed to female drivers and drivers who came from a bar or a party. The decrease is stronger in the eastern and northern parts of The Netherlands than in the southern and western parts.
