Alcoholism and work.

Abstract

Alcohol is by far the greatest social problem in terms of economic costs to the community and societal consequences. This is often not recognised because dominant community attitudes are that alcohol is not a drug, although it is abused by a great number of people. At work the management is naive if it expects that employees will of their own volition, abandon or moderate their excessive drinking before they become a gross loss to the business.
