Car use will increase among the senior citizens. Of the older men 80-90% will have a car at their disposal in the year 2000. Following an increase in their economic resources a change towards a more mobile life style will occur. This paper discusses these changes. The basis for the discussion is conclusions concerning the travel behaviour of the elderly during the eighties and the trends that could be found. Furthermore, demographic estimations and calculations concerning driving licence holdings, car use, public transport use and use of transportation service for old persons are utilized in the paper.
