Abstract

Sweden was one of the first countries to introduce pro mille legislation, but only in the last 10 years have authorities in more and more parts of the world begun to discover the pro mille regulations as a weapon against death on the roads. The proportion of motorists who drive while under the influence of alcohol or other drugs is fairly small in Sweden. Nevertheless, continued effort is needed, partly to reduce still further the numbers of accidents caused in Sweden by alcohol, partly to reduce the international situation.
