Abstract

According to the statistics the number of 3 and 4 wheel all- terrain vehicles imported in Canada increased from 18.000 in 1981 to a peak of 115.000 in 1984 before dropping back to 68.000 in 1985. The estimated number is now over a quarter of a million ATV's in use across Canada. Given the high fatality and injury rates of these ATV's, a plea is given to prohibit the use of these vehicles in Canada. (The paper was presented at the conference mentioned in B 28857).
