Alternative demand functions for "abstract" transportation demands.

Abstract

An important problem in the demand for transportation services is to predict the demand for the services of new modes. One approach is to construct models of the demand for "abstract" modes. That is, modes which are defined only in terms of their service characteristics. Four of these approaches are summarized.
