The Amsterdam 'bicycle working group' experience.

Abstract

This paper is about the way the Dutch Cyclists' Union, the ENFB, has looked after the interests of the cyclist in Amsterdam for the past fifteen years. And more closely about the co-operation with the municipality of Amsterdam in the so-called 'Bicycle working group', the civil working group that was responsible for the bicycle policy in the city. The ENFB participated in this working group for eleven years. It is hoped that the example of the Bicycle working group will give some suggestions for a comparable way of co-operation in other cities.
