Abstract

An overview is given of the results of an interdisciplinary Swiss car accident study on injuries associated with safety belts. The investigation is based on police reports, photographs, scene investigations, photogrammetric methods, medical documentation and technical examination of the belts. The objective was to provide information on accident mechanisms hazardous to seat belt wearers, injury patterns and belt system failures.
