Abstract

When a car strikes a pedestrian, the latter is always found to be a victim. In addition such an accident often results in the death or serious injury of the pedestrian involved. In Japan experiments are done with a car and a pedestrian dummy to analyze the motions of the latter with seven degrees of freedom. The results are described and some new studies announced.
