Abstract

The requirement to the applications of information technology in intelligent transportation systems (ITS) is increasing recently, from which the application of biologic heredity to ITS is a result. The problem to have a view of possible biologic inheritance existing in ITS is described first. Two typical cases, one for the information fusion and one for the traffic control application, are then introduced to show the implicit biologic heredity and the requirement to a heredity specification. Based on the analysis of these practical applications, the general requirement for the definition of a heredity specification is explained. Finally, the summary is concluded in the paper.
