Abstract

Dynamic characteristics of a driver-vehicle system in the task of following another car are analyzed using spectral analysis techniques on data from 18 driver-subjects. The simple linear follow-the-leader model with a constant sensitivity and time lag is shown to provide only an approximate characterization of actual car-following behaviour.
