Increasingly serious road congestion and rising awareness of environmental problems brought on by the recent increase of car ownership are emphasizing the importance of the providing of travel information. At this stage, however, it can hardly be said that there have been sufficient analyses of the results of providing travel information. Two questionnaire surveys, including stated preference (SP) questions, were conducted in an area where there is a choice between cars and semi-automated guided transit (SAGT), related to the providing of information and the choice of transportation mode. Quantitative assessments were made of results inferred from a logit model of the choice of transportation mode and the effect on travel behavior of providing travel information.
