Abstract

The motorcycle accident literature shows that riders typicallydo not make use of the full braking capacity oftheir machines. In view of this and the high motorcycle accident rate, the relationship between brake system "feel"characteristics and rider/cycle braking performance appearsto be a topic requiring urgent experimental investigation. To this end, a variable brake control gradient (VBCG) motorcycle has been developed and is described in this paper.
