Abstract

Certain chronic diseases manifest themselves in acute symptoms of an episodic nature: 2 examples are angina pectoris and epilepsy. It has been observed in some instances of such diseases that the number of attacks for a given patient within a specific time interval appears to follow a Poisson distribution. In this paper methods of analyzing crossover clinical trials designed to compare the efficacy of drugs used in treatment of such a disease are presented.
