Abstract

According to Government Bill 2008/09:9, the number of fatalities on the roads should be halved between 2007 and 2020. This is equivalent to a maximum of 220 fatalities in 2020. The number of those seriously injured on the roads is to be reduced by a quarter. This report describes road safety trends and forms a basis for the work that will lead to meeting the objectives by 2020. Road safety trends are described and analysed in the report on the basis of the number of fatalities and casualties and also designated Road Safety Performance indicators. In addition, the trends are explained using surrounding world factors and different types of road safety measures as a starting point. (Author/publisher)
