Abstract

police reports for a sample of over 600 road accidents occurring in Oxfordshire in 1964 have been studied, particularly with reference to factors not readily available elsewhere. These were the distance of the road user from his home, vehicle speed, and degree of blame (assessed by a careful reading of the police reports.) The interrelationships between these and other variables (such as type of accident, road user age, severity of injury) were investigated.
