Abstract

A before and after study is made of the accident records of a sample of the students who participated in the National Safety Council's Defensive Driving Course. The results show a rise in the reported accident rate in the year following the course, but little difference was found in the internal features of accidents such as restraint system usage, number of injuries per accident or admitted negligence of the students.
