Abstract

This edition, published jointly by EUROSTAT, the ECMT and the UN/ECE, includes data from Hungary, Poland and the former Czechoslovakia. The report consists of an analysis of trends and a series of tables covering such topics as investment, infrastructure, rolling stock, human resources, traffic and energy consumption. Tables in the transport sector have been simplified and some of the old tables have been omitted. Economic trends in the market-based economy countries and the partners in transition countries are examined in terms of the main economic indicators. Changes in road and railway passenger traffic are reviewed and statistics are given on freight traffic. Trends in traffic and the capacity of inland waterways are shown. Details are given of the changes in pipeline and maritime transport over the period. The transport of crude and refined oil is considered and details are given of international traffic and transport of goods through seaports.
