Abstract
The activities of the National Transportation Safety Board, and the operating administrations of accident investigations are summarised. The theme of each report, in addition to a summary of activities, is to: a) assess the effectiveness of the statuary scheme for dealing with accident investigations. b) identify any problem areas existing in the relationship or communication between NTSB and the operating administration and c) recommend any necessary changes in procedures, relationship, or basic legal authority. Some of these are discussed with examples.
