Abstract

THIS NOTE PRESENTS A COUNTER-INTUITIVE RESULT THAT ARISES WHEN STOCHASTIC TRAFFIC ASSIGNMENT METHODS ARE USED. THE PHENOMENON IS EXPLAINED AND COMPARED TO BRAESS' PARADOX (BRAESS, 1968). THE RELATIONSHIP TO TRAVEL DEMAND ANALYSIS IS POINTED OUT.(Author/publisher).
