Abstract

Crompton and colleagues concluded that motorcycle helmet use decreases cervical spine injuries, and suggest this finding supports mandatory helmet laws. A limitation of their study is it included only patients who were treated in a trauma center, thus not analyzing the total injury continuum. The authors offer an alternative perspective and a different dimension of the problem. (Author/publisher)
