The effect on transverse positioning of traffic on the M6 of the presence of a 19 km length of anti-dazzle screen has been measured in daylight and darkness. No correlation with traffic flow or lighting conditions was found, but private vehicles in the middle and right-hand lanes travel 150-250 mm further from the central reserve on that part of the motorway with the screen. The method used a modified pair of binoculars mounted on a tripod to view the traffic from an overbridge. (Author/publisher)
