Abstract

Hague Consulting Group, commissioned by Syndicat des Transports Parisiens (STP), has developed a traffic model system, based on disaggregate models, for Ile-de-France. STP is responsible for public transport operations in this area. For this model system the study area has been divided into 984 zones. The system contains models for: (1) household licence holding and car ownership (with car ownership being dependent on parking costs); (2) tour frequencies for 8 home-based tour purposes and 2 non-home-based tour purposes; and (3) mode-destination choice, using 10 public transport modes (including combinations such as train with metro access) and 3 private modes. Together these models give growth factors which are applied to the cells of a base year trip matrix, by mode and purpose. The resulting matrices will be used in assignment to the different car and public transport networks. The paper focuses on comparing the model specification, the estimation results and the implied elasticities with other model systems for large urban areas.
