Abstract

With regard to the applicability of the environment-friendly microsurfacing processes for maintenance and rehabilitation, the performance and other aspects of the microsurfacing processes have not been clearly evaluated. In part this is because microsurfacing is a thin-layer pavement 10 mm or less in thickness, made of cold mixtures, and it has not been long since its introduction to Japan. Therefore, a follow-up survey was conducted for 80 months in a site where microsurfacing was applied as rehabilitation. Based on the results of the survey, we estimate the service life, life cycle costs, carbon dioxide emissions, and energy consumption, and review the applicability of microsurfacing for rehabilitation.
