Abstract

In this paper a set of operational requirements for acceptable mobility aid securement and user restraint systems are given, and the effect of some wheelchair and securement related variables on the impact response in a public transit environment are demonstrated. The results are illustrated using data obtained from impact experiments and user surveys in the course of a cooperative local demonstration project to develop and test a wheelchair securement system.
