Abstract

Recent literature strongly motivates the employment of applicable technology in Third World countries. However, applicable technology has been interpreted by governments and decisionmakers in developing countries as implying old or low technology. Some high-technology solutions in public transport have, however, proven to be economically and financially beneficial in developing countries. (A) The French title of this paper is: "L'application des principes et des solutions de la technologie de pointe du Monde Industriel pour le transport dans les communautés du Tiers-Monde".
