Abstract

A method of full-field displacement measurement which is very advantageous in auto-safety studies is presented. A linear ruling of parallel lines is projected on the object with an ordinary projector. A view camera completes the apparatus and is used to image the object in its local focal plane. If the object is of arbitrary shape, the image of the ruling becomes "warped". This "warped" ruling contains information about the deformation.
