Abstract

The Washington Department of Transport conducted a positive guidance demonstration project on a site which was analysed and treated as a sharp reverse curve with a narrow bridge between curves. The site experienced a high rate of accidents. An evaluation of the positive guidance procedure by the users indicated that it was a beneficial tool in determining and correcting the site's problems. No accidents have occurred at the site since the time that the revised information system has been in place.
