Abstract

This article presents the case for standardization of software used in any ATT/IVHS system. Presently few specialized ATT/IVHS software standards exist. Development without standards could result in difficulty in integrating/interfacing subsystems, and reduced system quality. A number of commercial and military software standards exist which could be applied without significant additional cost, and without dampening creativity. This would result in lower cost for software maintenance, greater portability of software between projects or jurisdictions, and higher reliability. (A)
