Abstract

In this study and development, trends of the ETC (Electronic Toll Collection system) / the DSRC (Dedicated Short-Range Communication) technologies and actual situations of the electronic payment were investigated, and the possibility to apply the ETC / the DSRC technologies to the ITS services was considered. Applications to parking lots, drive-through services, gas stations were selected as representative models, and concrete system study, site investigation, hearing of entrepreneurs and study of problems related to commercialization and technologies were performed. So as to study and evaluate the effectiveness of the electronic payment service with regard to two systems, i.e. parking lots and drive-through services, the experiment evaluation systems which correspond to theses service models were developed and evaluated. As a consequence, the effectiveness of the multi-application-compliant method and packaging method of the Internet protocol toward practical application was verified.
