Abstract

South's (1998) comments on Sanson et al. (1996) raise a number of issues relating to the general application of psychological theory to road safety research, and in particularly the validity of the theoretical construct of general deterrence to driver behaviour. This comment on South suggests that road safety research, rather than psychology is in need of a broader focus. (A)
